Laneige Waterful Sharing Campaign 2016
Tuesday, April 12, 2016
Assalamualaikum and hello readers! I was recently invited to witness the launch of Laneige Waterful Sharing Campaign 2016 by Amorepacific Malaysia and I'm so glad to finally learn how a corporation can give back to the society in need.
Collaborating with Global Peace Foundation, Laneige Malaysia launched its third instalment of CSR to bring water relief to two Orang Asli communities in Kampung Ulu Geruntum, Perak and Kampung Binjai, Pahang. The relief will benefit 500 residents in both villages which have been deprived of clean, drinkable water for daily use. These two communities have been consuming untreated surface water from rivers or ponds for drinking, cooking and washing. According to the CEO of Global Peace Foundation, Dr Teh Su Thye, the consumption of contaminated water in the long run does not only result in skin problems but also serious health issues like water-borne diseases and in some cases, death.
"Even if it is running water, it is still unfiltered so how can we be sure that it is clean? It can contain viruses, bacteria, parasites and animal urines which can lead to Leptospirosis" - Dr Teh
