Review : Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil

Tuesday, July 09, 2013

Assalamualaikum and hello ^_^ Have you ever heard the term 'dry oil' ? As for me, I never heard of it until I saw a giveaway at SaSa Malaysia facebook. They hosted a review giveaway, and guess what? I'm among the 10 lucky bloggers to receive the Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil by Nuxe! I'm ecstatic to get my hands on another product by Nuxe. I heard that this dry oil is a raved item by the westerners, as they claimed that it is excellent on their skin and hair. In Malaysia, I seldom saw advertisements to use oil as our body moisturizer (except for Johnson Baby oil). Lotion is everywhere, but oils? So far I only saw oil advertisement for cars, cooking, hair, and medicated or herbal oils, hehe~

What is Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil?
A multi-usage dry oil that can be used to nourish, repair and soften  your hair, body and face skin. Contains a unique formula with 6 precious vegetal oils (Borage, St.John's Wort, Macadamia, Hazelnut, Sweet Almond and Camellia) and vitamin E. Besides, this dry oil is claimed to be eco-friendly, silicone free, mineral oil free, suitable for all skin types and contains no preservatives.

How does it work?
At first I thought this oil is only for moisturizing our skin and hair. But as I browsed through the web, I found quite a number of its uses from many bloggers around the world! Here's something from Vanilla Crush!

1. Mix a little with your foundation to allow for a smoother application.

2. Put a few drops into your bath for super soft skin.  It also leaves your skin smelling lovely.

3. Use a few drops on your cuticles to leave them feeling super nourished.

4. For a hydrating hair mask put a few drops into wet hair and wrap a towel around your head for 2 minutes.

5. After waxing or shaving, apply to your skin to soothe any soreness, it will also leave your skin  feeling super soft.

6. Apply to your face after serum for an intense moisture/use after come out of the bath/shower to retain moisture

7.  Apply to areas of the body where you want to achieve a subtle glow.

8. Use as a hair serum, either to help keep you hair straighter for longer, or to help calm curly hair.

9. For really dry skin, apply some the oil followed by your normal moisturiser (or mix the 2) to give your skin an intense moisture (particularly good for elbows and knees).

10. Apply to the ends of dry hair to help battle split ends.

My experience with Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil?
I received a 100ml size of Nuxe Huile Prodigiuse Dry Oil from SaSa Malaysia. The design is very minimalist, with a love patterned sticker at the front and a collar-like card attached to the bottle's neck, containing information of the oil in several languages. This is the 20th anniversary edition bottle, and it does not have any prints on the bottle like the usual/previous one.
It comes with a spray pump, much to my delight coz it will be easier to use, not as messy as pouring the product onto your palm and risk the oil dripping everywhere. The bottle is transparent, making it easier for users to see how much the content's left.

Texture : Slightly greasy upon contact, but absorbs fast once spread onto skin.

Effect : It leaves my skin feeling moist after application, no greasy residue but somehow I have the feeling like "there's something on my skin" and it does help in taming frizzy hair but not for long.

Scent : I'm bad at describing scent, I swear. The only thing I can say is this oil smells a bit like jasmine. The smell is not too strong, I can tolerate it but I wish it has a different smell. hehe~

Verdict : I love pampering my skin with this oil after bath. I don't fancy putting it on my face and hair coz of the smell, but it works well, really well in moisturizing my skin esp my dry heels and knees. At RM148 per bottle, this dry oil is a definite luxury and if you're looking for a substitute of lotion to moisturize your skin and hair, I recommend you to try Nuxe Huile Prodigiuse Dry Oil, definitely worth the money ^_^
