L'Occitane Angelica Hydra Vital Gel & Hydra Vital Cream

Assalamualaikum and hello! Skin hydration has been a topic that haunts me for a very long time. As a person with oily skin, I used to think that I don't need moisturizer at all. Luckily I realized that I was wrong and I started my quest for the right moisturizer. It was a tenuous journey as I spent a lot of money and time on moisturizers that made me look like an oil slick after a few hours, which was devastating and humiliating as well. It was until recently that I found and learned on which type of moisturizers that are suitable with my skin concern, and that we can also have 2 different moisturizers for day and night. Aside from oily T-Zone, I have been through episodes of dry, flaky, and peeling skin. So when I heard that L'Occitane is coming out with a new formulation for their Angelica Hydration Skincare, I felt really intrigued to find out about it ^_^
I found that L'Occitane actually has introduced Angelica range in 2011 but now they have reinforced the secret recipe and also came out with an additional product to further complete the range. The name Angelica came from the potent ingredient used for this green range, which is the organic Angelica plant from the Drome region of France. Well, what is so magical about this Angelica plant that made L'Occitane registered 2 patents for this range? They call it an "Angelic Alchemy". Angelica plant can grow up to the height of 2 meters in just a few days due to its exceptional capacity for self-hydration. This organic Angelica from Drome region has hydrating and revitalizing properties, making L'Occitane researchers found a way to incorporate the extracts of organic angelica water and organic angelica essential oil for optimal skin hydration, and angelica seeds for long-lasting effectiveness.
So the two products under spotlight for this Angelica range are the Hydra Vital Cream (new formulation) and Hydra Vital Gel (new product). Both are moisturizers, which in my opinion are suitable for day and night, and also for people with normal/dry and oily skin. Both products came in 50ml frosted glass jar. Hydra Vital Cream is white in colour, and the consistency is thick, cream-like. The new formula enriched this cream with angelica seed extract, which enables it to offer 48hours* long lasting moisturization. It claims to boost natural skin hydration while at the same time revitalizes and helps protect skin from environmental stresses. This cream gives freshness to skin and makes skin appear plumper, smoother and radiant.

Hydra Vital Gel is the lighter version of its sister cream, targeted to give instant and intense hydration. It is stated that this gel is ideal for people with normal to combination skin as it melts smoothly with an instant thirst-quenching effect. Upon use, skin freshness is protected and over time it can help retain radiance and vitality as it claims to offer 24-hour hydration*.
My personal thoughts after using Hydra Vital Cream and Hydra Vital Gel from this Angelica range is that I have nothing to hate on the effectiveness of both moisturizers. I really love them as they worked very well on my skin in giving that long-lasting hydration and making my skin feel a lot plumper and softer than before. I use the Hydra Vital Cream at night as I found that it is too rich and heavy to be used during the day as my skin is oily-combination. Hydra Vital Gel works very well on my skin during the day and it does not make my skin turn oilier ^_^ The loveliest thing about Hydra Vital Gel is that it gives my skin that icy-cool feeling when I slather the gel on my face and neck. Hydra Vital Cream on the other hand, makes my skin feel like having a personal spa due to its creaminess. When I woke up every day, my skin truly feels soft, plump and hydrated. This magical Angelica Alchemy from L'Occitane truly helps my skin to stay sanely hydrated while our weather in Malaysia is hotter than usual, hehe :D maybe the only thing that I wish I can tolerate better is the smell that came with these two. They smelled nice actually, but I found it too strong to my liking. I detected a deep hint of bitterness at the end of the pleasant note, which I can say like swallowing a sugar coated medicine. Sweet at the beginning, shockingly bitter at the end. However, this is just my personal take on the smell of both Hydra Vital Cream and Hydra Vital Gel.

I say that L'Occitane has passed in surprising me with a sweet treat for my skin. It is quite unusual for me to stumble upon moisturizers that can really work on my skin type. I did not get any break out or irritation along the period of wearing these two moisturizers on my skin. Hydra Vital Cream takes longer than Hydra Vital Gel to get fully absorbed by the skin but both does not give me any sticky or oily feeling after that. When I experienced moisturizers that really made my skin feel like its year-long thirst has been quenched, it does not make my skin oilier than normal and best of all, it does not give me that "I-have-a-film-of-moisturizer-on-my-skin-surface" feeling, then I say it won't hurth if you give these two magical moisturizers a try as well :)

    1. Hahaha I know right babe! The price is killing but when you see the difference it made to your skin, you'll know that the investment made is worth it :) plus, it is not gone in one use. Divide 184 with how many months you spent to finish this and it will come to a reasonable number per month ^_^

    1. helo dear :) well personally i would say that people with oily combination skin definitely can use both the above products because i myself am a person with oily combination skin. my t-zone are oily while the area of my cheeks, jawline and neck are a combination of dry-normal skin. so far both Hydra Vital Gel and Cream works very well on hydrating and moisturizing my skin.

As for sensitive skin, both products can also be used because they are non-comodogenic. You may want to check my friend Caroline's review on these two products as well because she has a super sensitive skin, and she also said that these products are good on her skin. Here is the link to her review, I hope it helps you ya ^_^
